Mrs. Mandese’s Oath to Washington Oak School
I promise to work each day in the best interest of the students at Washington Oak. I believe all students are capable of learning at high levels and I will work to ensure each child’s success. I will not give up on a child or family, within the Coventry community.
I will strive to inspire my colleagues to reach their highest level of success. I will continue to grow my practice each day, be reflective to feedback and never stop learning. I will continue to develop the most impactful teaching strategies, which help students reach their highest potential.
I will work to ensure students and staff enjoy coming to our school each day and are highly engaged in learning. I will spend time in classrooms getting to know students and learning alongside them.
I will smile and exude happiness each day I walk into these doors. It is about the kids, every day! 😊
I promise to follow this oath for the students, educators, and community, here in Coventry.

Our Superhero Walkathon is quickly approaching! Please reach out to your friends, family and colleagues to make a donation to support Washington Oak. Below is the walking schedule, if you would like to walk and help support our school on the 29th! Please bring in donation forms on the 29th!

School Store & Wallaby Store
This school year, we will have a school store and a Wallaby school store. On the 2nd Friday of the month, students will be able to bring in money from home to purchase small trinkets. The money raised from the school store is used to fund our safety patrol event and Wallaby prizes. On the last Friday of the month, students will be able to purchase items from the store using their Wallaby dollars. Cash will not be allowed on this day. We will start the school store in October. All dates are posted on our school calendar. LINK
If you are interested in volunteering at the school store, please reach out to Amanda Aldana. Amanda.m.k.aldana@GMAIL.com  Thank you!

Update for the Week 9-10-17

Thank you for attending Open House this week! We had an excellent turn out.

Here are a few updates for the week:

*Please have your child bring in their summer reading log this week (last possible day is Thursday). This way, we have a chance to win $2,000 to buy more books for the school! If you need a copy of the reading log, please click on the link below.
Summer Reading Log

*WPRI Radio is interviewing Washington Oak educators and one student on our new structure at recess! They will be visiting the school on Tuesday to observe recess for grades 4 & 5, as well as conduct interviews. It is such an honor to be chosen for this opportunity! Our supervisory assistants who help run the games, organize recess activities and support our children, make this possible each day!

*Our first PTA meeting is on Tuesday night at 6:30pm. I hope you can attend.

*Mrs. Jacquard and I began to develop a new organization for indoor recess, because I am sure those cold winter days will be here before we know it! I have just purchased many games, puzzles, coloring books and activities, to help keep students engaged during the independent time. If you have any extra games, puzzles or coloring books you would like to donate, please send them in. We appreciate it!

*Washington Oak Hearing Screening will begin on Friday, September 15th

*Remember to send in those yellow wallaby slips with your child when they are being respectful, safe, and responsible. Please date the back and let us know what they did to earn the slip.

*If you have not returned your child's green emergency sheet, please do so. This is our most immediate way to contact you in case of an emergency.

Upcoming Dates:
Thursday, September 21st is Picture Day!

Friday, September 29th is our SuperHero Walkathon

Saturday, October 28th is the Fall Harvest Festival
